SEEING GOD CHANGE LIVES
LIVING LIFE CENTRED ON GOD!
Young people are a huge part of the life of our church family. We promise to offer a place where young people are safe, where they belong, and where they can discover the love of God for themselves. Below you’ll find details of our regular activities, but please contact our youth minister, Martin Saunders if you have any questions. We also run some extra activities through the year, including a trip to the Satellites Summer festival every August.
are you being called
to join our team?
Our Wednesday evening groups are open to all young people in school years 7-13. They’re called SATELLITES groups, because we want to be people who live our lives in orbit around God. All groups take place at the St Mary’s Church Centre.
If you’re in the first two years of secondary school, you’re welcome to join our group every Wednesday from 5.15-6.30pm. We play games, eat copious amounts of sweets, and give you plenty of time to chill with friends – plus we spend some time talking in groups about the big questions of life.
Our group for school years 9-13 takes place every Wednesday from 7.15-9pm. Play some pool, shoot some hoops or kick a football around – or hang out with friends playing games or simply enjoying the relaxed atmosphere. In this group we regularly hear from great speakers on relevant topics, and spent plenty of time talking in groups about what faith looks like in practice.
The Family Meal
A really important value for us is family – we believe that God invites absolutely EVERYONE to a seat at his table, and so we like to model that very practically by eating dinner together every Wednesday evening. We hold this meal between our two groups – meaning that ALL young people in years 7-13 can attend. It runs from 6.30-7.15pm, and although the food is always free, we do ask for a suggested donation of £2 a week to cover our costs if you’re able.
On Sundays, we want young people to feel completely welcome to play a full part in our church community. Teenagers are especially welcome at our services, but we also run two additional activities alongside them.
Our Sunday morning youth group is specifically for years 7-8, and takes place during the morning church service. Expect games, fun chat and an opportunity to dig in to a story from the Bible. Note: this group does not take place on Whole Family Service weeks (generally the first of each month).
At 5.15pm every Sunday, all school years are invited to an informal, pre-service gathering. We eat cake, we drink hot chocolate, and we spend a few minutes looking ahead to the passage which is going to be preached on in the evening service that follows. Everyone is welcome – and you can either join in with the discussion, or sit back, listen and enjoy the doughnuts.
And lastly why not check out our Instagram? We upload challenges to practice an aspect of Christian faith that will keep you going and growing as well as all the latest news regarding youth groups.
