OUR BUILDINGS MAY BE CLOSED
BUT OUR CHURCH IS ALWAYS OPEN
Over the next few weeks and months we are going to be learning about a completely new way of being church, expressing our faith and to serving our community. Pressing into the roots of our faith we will seek to make loving God and loving our neighbour our main priority.
A SIMPLE WAY OF BEING CHURCH
LOVING GOD AND LOVING OUR NEIGHBOUR
We must remember that Jesus came to connect us to God directly.
We don’t need apps or downloads or videos
We just need to open ourselves to him and reach out to Him
In this time of social distancing, all our normal ways of gathering
and of connecting with him have been taken from us
and many of them have moved online
But regardless of how good these resources are,
now is the time for us to learn a deeper lesson
God is near
Jesus has opened a way for us to be with God
The Spirit has been poured out in our hearts
As Jesus himself modelled, and taught us,
it’s really all about our relationship with our Father,
our personal, direct, surrendered relationship to him
SO, ENJOY YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD DIRECT
READ SCRIPTURE / BE STILL AND PRAY / WORSHIP AT HOME
REMEMBER JESUS EVERY TIME YOU BREAK BREAD
These are incredibly challenging times and we will be trying all kinds of new ways to connect with each other and to play our part withing the church family. If you are not already part of a group, we would love to help you find one or start one yourself.
Despite the challenges we are facing it is encouraging just how many great ideas are being shared for how we can love God and love our neighbours. Let us know how we can help or how we can connect you with others close by.
We will be using MyChurchSuite and emails much more than usual so please sign up, if you are new to our community
In the days ahead we want to encourage one another to develop practices and disciplines to help us become more like Jesus. The discipline of simplicity is intentionally choosing to live simply, to eat simply, to buy less. It is the opposite of panic buying or hording. It is counter-cultural, one of the ways that we will stand out as Christians at this time, but it is freedom. Less is more
The benefits of being thankful are huge. Being grateful increases our enjoyment of things and people. In these days of scarcity, the discipline of gratitude increases our trust and transforms our mood. Worship is an antidote to fear. Gratitude leads to life. Adopt a discipline of gratitude this week by saying grace, by thanking others, by celebrating all that you have.
