FOR LENT
SEEING GOD CHANGE LIVES
Lent is a gift to us.
Its length, longer than we'd choose, takes us deeper.
Its focus, sharper than we'd prefer, brings us closer.
Its discipline, harder than we'd like, brings us lasting change.

REDISCOVER GOD THROUGH LENT
Lent is a time of fasting, reflection and repentance.
It is a gift given to us that helps us reset our relationships with God and with others.
Choosing to participate in the disciplines of Lent can bear so much fruit for us.
40 days is enough time to develop new life giving habits.
Habits, over time, lead to the development of character, and our character shapes our destiny

To help you to make your own plans for Lent here is a short introduction.
I carefully look back on the day just completed,
being guided by the Holy Spirit.
For what am I most grateful?
For what am I least grateful?

A lenten pilgrimage is testing. We have to search within ourselves for answers that lie hidden, draw on other's strengths, reflect deeply, and trust that we will be enabled to integrate all that we find.

the resilient disciple
The 40 days of Lent mark the period of time in which Jesus retreated into the wilderness, direct there by the Holy Spirit. It was a period of training and equipping at the start of his ministry that strengthened his resolve, sharpened his sense of identity, and deepened his connection with his Father.
It developed his resilience.
This Lent, why not join others in the church reading this book together. There is a daily refection, prayers to help direct your devotion, and simple actions to take up each day as a way of responding and growing.
Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tested by the devil. After fasting for forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.
