One of my favourite prayers in the New Testament is Paul’s prayer for the church in Ephesus (Chapter 3:14-21) and I echo it for all of us as we start this year and you might want to make it your own as you pray for yourselves, and for others you know as you start this new year. It goes like this:
I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth, for you all, that out of his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. And I pray that Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him so that your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And I also pray that you might have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is and that you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. As this happens you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. All glory be to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

Infinitely more than all we might ask for or imagine…
It’s a great prayer… for inner strength, for being rooted and held firm in the experience of God’s unmeasurable love, for Christ making his home in us, for becoming complete, filled with life and a sense of power from God…
Love it…
Just what I need for myself and what I long for others too…
