SEEING GOD CHANGE LIVES

REVIEWING THE YEAR TOGETHER

Circle-Logo-Small-Orange

It was great to join together for our APCM on Monday 26th April at 8pm
to elect a new PCC and Warden team, and to review the journey

It’s been a challenging year, but we have also seen God at work among us, not just sustaining us but also using us as his mission agency here in Reigate.  The year ahead, already underway, will be about us getting back up to speed together.

The core strength of the church has been tested and we remain strong.  As we emerge out of the pandemic it will be vital to:

  • Re-engage our church family in the worship life of the church as we move away from having to rely on online worship, and can begin to safely gather together for worship
  • Re-affirm our commitment to seeing God changing lives, families and churches, again and again
  • Re-envision the church for a new chapter of life together in the post pandemic world
  • Review our priorities for the future, leaving behind some aspects of how we used to do things, and moving forward together in unity and with energy
  • Re-invest in mission with the vision of passing on our faith to future generations

ELECTED this year

LESLIE JACKSON – CHURCH WARDEN
Leslie has been a member of the PCC and Deanery Synod for many years and been involved in all kinds of aspects of Church life.  Having taught at St Bede’s school he is now a Union Representative and is also Lay Chair of the Reigate Deanery. He was appointed Church Warden in 2020.

TOM LUMSDEN – CHURCH WARDEN
Tom has been a member of St Mary’s for nearly 20 years, and has been involved in a number of different ways as a foundation governor at the school and as a PCC member for 6 years during the building project.  Tom is a commercial property solicitor and is married with three children

Tom Andrew
I’ve been a member of St Mary’s for over 15 years, and on the PCC for 4. During that time I’ve been regularly involved in the youth work and have often played drums as part of the worship team, alongside my wife Jo. Both worship and youth are areas of our church life that I would be keen to support and strengthen as a member of the PCC, particularly given the challenges these teams are currently facing. I’d also hope to provide a bit of a voice for those in their 20s and 30s, as well as young families.

Becky Beggs
I’m Becky, married to Tim and we have 2 children Chloe (16) and Matty (14). We’ve been part of St Marys for the last 20+ years. I’m a secondary school teacher and am passionate about young people and in supporting them in their journeys into becoming the people they were made to be. I’m part of the Satellites team, which used to involve a lot of table tennis, but more recently I’ve been sharpening my Kahoot skills and hosting Zoom discussions. I’m also part of the welcome team and have been on PCC for the last 2 years.

Ali Brown
Hi my name is Ali, I am married to Josh and mummy to Melody (4) and Edith (1).  I have been following Jesus my whole life, and he is such a big part of it, in my marriage and in raising our children, and everything in between. We came to St Marys two years ago as Josh was offered a job and have since made it our home. I have been heavily involved in co leading and hosting our next-gen life group as well as general participation in the life of the church. I have a real love for the family that is St Marys, as well as a heart to encourage the Church to look to Jesus. Alongside this I would bring experience of different church leadership contexts to the role.

Katie Cornish
I have been a member of our St Mary’s Church Family since January 2006. I have been volunteering on the Youth team since 2007 and I also co-lead a Jigsaw group on Wednesday mornings. I am a member of the Sunday morning Welcome Team and have also helped in the various Sunday morning children’s groups over the past 10 years. I hope to bring my experience gained through serving, my voice of compassion, as well as the skills gained in my professional life to discussions, to both challenge and support decisions, aiding the progress of our Church mission.

Tania Hillsdon
I’ve been part of St Mary’s Church family since 2009. My husband, Barney, and I feel blessed to have three children (10, 8 & 6). Over the last twelve years, I’ve volunteered on the intercessions team, worship team, children’s groups and been part of Jigsaw. More recently, I co-hosted an Alpha group. For twenty years, I worked in television broadcasting – latterly as a Senior Producer for ITV, in studio and on location. I now love working at RGS, coaching sport and teaching history. Doing Alpha in my twenties was life changing and my spiritual journey has deepened further through Bible study, prayer, listening (or trying to listen!) to God and fellowship. I hope to encourage and join others in their faith journey, support our church leaders and contribute to the mission and vision of St Mary’s.

Gogo Moore
I’ve lived in Reigate for over 30 years now, I trained as a nursery nurse and worked in a nursery for 15 years . After this I retrained as a Carer in the community and met and worked with amazing elderly people. Two years later I retrained again and have been working in a hospital ever since. My job at the hospital gives me the opportunity to serve God in all I do and to see God working in peoples’ lives.  I have a 18 year old daughter, Zoe, who has been coming to St Mary‘s ever since she was born .St Mary‘s is part of our home and community, I’m involved with the children’s groups and also volunteer at the Easter project. I have always felt that God has called me to serve, being part of the PCC is another way that I can serve God and the community.

Andrew Morgan
By day a civil servant at the MOD and dad to two little boys Henry (4) and Maxwell (2), by night… hopefully sleeping! I joined St Mary’s in 2015 when I moved to the area with my wife Annette. Since then I’ve been involved in preaching, hosting Alpha, and leading the Marriage Preparation Course. Having come to faith later in life, I am passionate about sharing the good news with those who don’t yet know Jesus. I also want to make sure our church is somewhere families and children of all ages feel welcome and can get involved.

Nick Rayner
The Rayners have been part of the St Mary’s family since we moved to Reigate in 2009. We’ve been involved in all kinds of parts of St Mary’s life, and most recently for me that has been Co-leading the Lighthouses children’s group, being part of the Satellites youth team and currently hosting an Alpha group.    I am an architect, and bring to the PCC a mix of practicality and creativity. I’m really passionate about seeing people growing deeper in their faith and passing it on to others.

Alastair Rubie
I am a retired Chartered Accountant and have been Treasurer of St Marys for the last 8 years. I have been a member of St Mary’s since my early teens. With my wife, Susanne, I lead a life group.

Margaret Wood
I have been a member of St Mary’s for five years’ following my move to Reigate from Sussex. At retirement I was office manager for a London based outplacement support company. I am now a police widow but had the joy of back packing with my late husband in our 50’s across the globe. My roles at St Mary’s are in hospitality. I am part of the Winter Night Shelter team, an Easter Project team leader and part of the Hospitality Team too. I also enjoy helping with group cooking with the children of Holiday Club, and feeding the youth at their mid week meals and their summer camp / visits to Soul Survivor. The best job ever is my family, two married offspring, spouses and four grandchildren.
